Hubbards - No Regrets

When people learned I’d bought a motorcycle, I got mixed reactions. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a few conflicting emotions of my own:

Practical Amanda: wouldn’t it have been better to spend that money on a car?
Adventurous Amanda: but bikes cost less and are more fuel efficient.
Practical Amanda: yeah, it’ll be REALLY fuel efficient in the winter… because you won’t drive it!
Adventurous Amanda: okay, fine, I really bought it because I fell in love with driving in ‘Nam.
Practical Amanda: couldn’t you wait for your mid-life crisis to go crazy?
Adventurous Amanda: why wait until my life is half over to enjoy it?

Thankfully, my practical side is completely subdued when I’m out on my long weekend trips, just adventurous Amanda, Ngọc, a camera and an unexplored road… you know those moments when you’re alone and so happy you can’t help but get a huge smile on your face? … yep, that’s when even practical Amanda says “oh, now it makes sense”.

  1. There's a practical Amanda?

  2. Practical in that Practical Amanda doesn't enact half of what Adventurous Amanda dreams up.
