Montreal - on $100 gas!

Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec

After 30 hours of driving to Montreal and back, I can safely say that Ngc feels like an extra limb. I don’t have to look at her rpms, or even hear her anymore, I can just feel when she needs to be shifted. That’s not the only nifty thing I learned on this trip, I also learned:

  • Stopped motorcycles are magnets for talkative people.
  • Montreal drivers aren’t as bad as everyone says they are.
  • Gas stations close VERY early in rural NB.
  • Under armour and wool socks are a must.
  • Audio books help you keep your sanity.
  • GPS on the iPhone is a God sent!
  • Always buy the best protective case for your cell phone … especially if there is a chance it will fall out of your pocket at highway speeds. Don’t worry; my iPhone walked away without a scratch.

All-in-all, a great trip. I have only one regret (and it isn’t my mileage – about $100 in gas total), my regret is not taking more photos! Canada is breath taking! The Saint Lawrence River is so spectacular it made me want to cry! The most picturesque part of the route (in my opinion) was in the Riviere-du-Loup area (refer to photo), so in order to correct my folly I’m going back there in the fall when the leaves change colour for a camping trip; with my camera this time! Unfortunately Ngc will be staying home for this trip, I’ve decided to tempt my fate with Via Rail.

Train ride to Quebec + fall colours + camping + camera = no regrets

Can’t wait for my next adventure!
